About

I am a native New Yorker. My artist parents gave me the simple name of Eve to counterbalance my unpronounceable last name of Chwast (pronounced “Quahst”). I live in the city, yet find my inspiration in the country. I graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked for twenty years making woodcuts and linocuts for newspapers and magazines. I taught art to children for many years, and since retiring I’ve focused on embroidering my designs, and to a lesser extent, quilting.

I am influenced by old movies, older paintings, folk art, being in the country, birds and little houses with red roofs. I am the wife and mother of software developers. My son made this site and my husband formatted the contents.
